Lucky for us, we had some down time between our heavy performance schedule – in that time we were able to travel to the Italian Riviera and Florence! Mama mia, we saw some beautiful architecture – especially the towns that were built right into the mountains. How do they do that?

The grand finale of the tour was performing at the gorgeous Villa Serra. What a treat. And what beautiful sound! It felt like we were performing in a mini Hollywood Bowl. Italian-style.

By the way, thank you Babbaleo radio and Savona TV for having us on your stations! We had so much fun. Also, Mark, if you’re reading this, thank you for your undying love and support on the tour. And thank you for all the dessert you treated us to.

There’s something about Paris that puts it in it’s own category–nothing can really match the allure and magnetism of this city–it stands on it’s own, all twinkly and with it’s head held high (a little alliteration for ya!).

I think you would need about 6 months in Paris to really have a good look around, but we saw what we could in the time that we had. A few things we did….

Walked along the Seine River, skipped under the Eiffel Tower (truly skipped), ate a ton of cheese, bread, and ice cream, scoured tiny bookstores for one-of-a-kind reads, people-watched at corner cafes, witnessed a ‘baguette fight’ (people throwing baguettes at each other in the street–confusing yet entertaining), danced at the hottest nightclub on Champs-Élysées, attempted the language whilst receiving pitying glances from the locals, appreciated beautiful art, heard a lot of whistling (and it wasn’t people calling their dogs), had religious experiences in cathedrals, created a cover of Eleanor Rigby, celebrated the 4th of July (quietly), were accompanied by violin duets while walking through the subway, ate Pho in Chinatown (real thing), visited the Palace of Versailles, looked for Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor at the real Moulin Rouge (couldn’t find them–darn!), saw the best view of the city from the top of Sacré-Cœur, got all Amelie in Montmartre……

Oh, and did I mention we played an unforgettable, dreamlike, fantasy-come-true, fairytale style show at the Paris Louvre Apple Store? I didn’t? Well, we did that too . And it was (place synonym of ‘incredible’ here, and say it with passion!)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Couple things we learned:

‘French bread’ is just called ‘bread’ there, and ‘French kissing’ is just called ‘kissing’. Now you’re ready to go to Paris. You’re welcome!

Unfortunately, I got sick almost as soon as we landed in Germany and had to overload myself with cough medicine on the day of our Apple store show. Luckily we have a friend who lives in Munich who was able to help me find the best of the best medicine. Thank you, Manuela! Our show was wonderful because of you.

Zürich. Oh my gosh. The CHOCOLATE! I think we each spent 100 swiss francs in this one chocolate store that was right across the street from the Apple store. We were buying and eating at the same time! So good, yet so destructive.

On a slightly different note, and because I don’t think you’ll see any of this in our tour footage, the train ride to Paris from Zürich was CRAZY! Everything about it was hectic – the luggage, the space available for sitting. Thank goodness the Apple store coordinator helped us with our luggage/instruments onto the train. I don’t know how we would have done it without him.

Oh, but the ride to Paris…..with butterflies in our stomaches. The beauty. That’s something we’ll never forget.

Yes yes yes, we saw all of that which Ireland calls their own (except maybe the Leprechauns, but I could’ve sworn this one time….), and more! It was super glorious, grand, the people were absolutely delightful, the scenery was postcard level beautiful, the food was double mmmm, and man, the Irish know how to sing!! It was an adventurous week–did a radio interview from bed on our first morning, played a show full of merriment and good cheer at The Hideout, read about ourselves in the local paper, explored breathtaking cathedrals, kissed the Blarney Stone, made a wish in the Gougane Barra forrest, drove for hours on the other side of the road, clinked glasses, made friends with umbrellas, hung out with ‘loovleh’ people, talked to cows, saved a sheep….phew! I’m exhausted.

It was inspiring! Ireland is even better than you think, unless you already think it’s the cat’s meow .
