These are just my ideas on how to be successful in any industry really, but applied towards music & art & what I love about Karmina.

If there’s one thing i’ve learned about this industry, it’s that the people are who matter the most. So i’m gonna say look towards Abaraham Lincoln & the fact that he’s Honest Abe. Look to Bill Clinton, look towards Barack Obama & look further. Look to Martin Luther King Jr & Malcolm X, Remember Socrates & Albert einstein, the e = mc^2 and look further. Look to Tom Hanks & Robin Williams, look to spielberg & hitchcock, look further, to the Michael Jacksons & Tupac Shakurs, look to Eminem & Dr. Dre, look to The Beatles & ask yourself, what made them so great?

Most of these people you will learn about just by growing up. They’re written about in history books & discussed by people. Socrates never wrote anything down & yet we can learn all about him thx to plato. Abraham Lincoln is known for “freeing the slaves” but we all remember Harriot Tubman & the underground railroad, not to mention Martin Luther King Jr. & who could forget Rosa Parks.

People are known & remembered by the people, for the people. And sure the people did great things…but really they’re remembered by those who cared about them. We honor & respect them for what they’ve done.

But how can you know that anyone has ever done anything?

This is a task i’ve been trying to tackle for a while now & this is what i’ve come up with.

First of all, #1 most important thing. Care about the people. If you care about the people, generally the people will care about you. I think Karmina does this the best. The way that Karmina gets in touch with fans & talks to everyone after their shows brings love & joy to my heart. So step 1 is complete.

But there are more ways to care about people. You can care about them through the expression of your art, but also just by reaching out to them.
Advertising doesn’t have to be this thing where you have the product & then you have the consumer, you can merge the 2 topics together. This is what i’m working on, but I think it’s to the benefit of everyone if as artist/creators we just follow this simple word of advice.

If you care about something & you want someone else to care about it as well, then why? Why should you both care about this? And if you have a logical answer/conclusion, then show me.

I’ll give you an example. I’m an A’s fan. AND I LOVE ALL A’s COMMERCIALS!!! I love learning about the A’s, & I love going to A’s games. Ya know what I love the most, is when the announcer gets on the loudspeaker & says “ladies & gentleman, may I have your attention please, thx to Round Table Pizza & Kurt Suzukis homerun, we shall now SPIN FOR PIZZA!!” and then it spins & of course “PIZZAA EVERYONE WINS A FREE ROUND TABLE PIZZA, present your ticket to any participating round table pizza to recieve your free personal pizza”

Btw thank you so much for the valentine, it’s the little things that go a long way. As for posters radio time etc, I tell everyone I know about Karmina & I share the music, huge supporter. I think if you believe in yourself & you believe in what you’re doing, then believe in the people as well & show them why you’re amazing. Get on the radio, take risks, find ways to advertise that make me love & enjoy what you’re doing as much as you do. From radio spots to music videos to commercials etc.

And if there’s one thing I have learned about the music industry, it’s that if you get out there, get in touch with the fans & share with them your music & what you’re doing, you will be successful, just try to share your message & what you’re doing with as many people as possible & even if you only touch 1 fan a day, that’s 365 fans a year & if you multiply by the thousands of people they come into contact with on a regular basis, the math is endless.

Anyways that’s just some thoughts, remember it’s your art, your choice, do something unique, for example what I love the most about Karmina, is the fact that they speak from their heart & soul & also listen to the hearts & souls of others, try it, try asking people what they’d like to do to enjoy your art as much as you do. Because after all, it’s the people who remember the amazing art that you create.

see that’s a perfectly good example!!

thx for sharing Vince :-)

It’s the people who are responsible for enjoying the music. We choose who we want to enjoy & remember. People who love & enjoy something want to share it with others. But we can only love & enjoy something that we know about.

On some level the artist has to spread the word about what they’re doing, but on another when the people love what you’re doing they will spread the word themselves. It’s a community effort that has it’s own natural balance & order.

Point being, do what you love & let others know about what it is you’re doing so they can love it too.

I think that there is a way to do this creatively. Like me personally i’m focusing on ways to spread my art, the Art Of Creativity through the media, but on a level that is more personal. I think for everyone it’s probably going to be different, but I definately support local food shops because when I eat there, they care about the customer & making good food to satisfy the customers needs. I probably ate at the hungry pocket more times than I can count simply because the owner of the restauraunt was always nice & up for conversation, sure the food was good but I had other choices of good food. Whereas at the *to remain nameless* franchise next door it was a rushed in & out process & I didn’t really feel like my money was going to a good cause.

I mean really look at things, Street Fighter 2, Donkey Kong Country, Indianna Jones, Batman, the arts that make it to the top of the charts have a very personal vibe to them. Each one is created to fullfill it’s full potential but on some level it’s appreciated for trying. I didn’t learn about these things from commercials, I learned about them from people who probably learned about them through commercials but then enjoyed them. It’s the 7 degrees of seperation effect.

Believe in what you’re doing & then through media outlets let people know about what you’re doing & how much you enjoy it & show them why they can enjoy it as well.

But on some level I just wanna touch base on Michael Jackson here. Watch any M.J. video. Don’t tell me that he’s not conveying to everyone how much he loves his music & how much you can love it 2.

Whatever that is, the spark that makes people great. I think that’s the key to all of it. And I personally feel that Karmina has this…I mean SPARKLE ROCK.

You can start there. Karmina has it’s own Genre of music. I look at Sparkle Rock & I think about love & joy & touching peoples hearts & believing in yourself, being kind to others.

Can you name any other band out there right now, that even remotely does this? I mean that’s on the level of my art form the Art Of Creativity, in that the Art is made to express what’s in your heart & soul. Not for money fame success etc. it’s done because the art matters.

I don’t know about everyone else, but everytime I see a Karmina show, I can feel that they’re up there, on that stage to show everyone what they love & enjoy & how happy they are that they get to do what they love & enjoy. And as someone in the audience watching this, I feel for that. I can relate to what they’re doing & what the music is all about. And I really love all the jokes inbetween & learning about how they come up with the songs & what they’re going through. It’s a very wholesome experience.

Anyways that’s where i’d start. And then display that through media outlets as well as getting in touch with fans via shows etc. Just to clarify on this one, when I say media outlets I mean…just as an example, anyone can just make a commercial, but there’s a reason Sprite Obey your thirst, & gatorade “is it in you” along with the “Got Milks” are remembered. Because on some level the commercial is more than just a commercial. And we all know about the just commercials, where it’s like “heres the product..use it” does not compare to the “Burger, Fry’s & a Shake…don’t bother me, i’m eating”

Anyways I think Karmina already does this on some level everytime they’re on camera you can definately get a feel for what they’re doing. I just especially loved the kickstarter video, kind of really emphasized who they are & what they’re about & Sparkle Rock & being able to be free & independent & fly. And look at the Fans that Karmina has, I can tell you I definately am a huge supporter… now I don’t have any tattoo’s yet, but I completely understand why someone would want to get one. You’ve touched our hearts & helped us to grow & I believe in the Sparkle Rock revolution, where ART WINS!!

Two years ago when I met them, I had a Karmina listening party. It inspired them to do their first U Stream Chat. But partys are good ways of getting people to listen to them. Also if you bring their CDs to dances. I did that also
